Direction (1-5) Study the following Table carefully to answer these questions:
What are averages of marks obtained by all the students in History out of 75?
What are the average marks obtained by all the students in Geography?
What is the ratio between total marks obtained by D in Math Science and English together and the total marks obtained by F in these subjects together respectively?
Marks obtained by C in Science are approximately what percent of his total marks obtained in all the six subjects together?
What are the total marks obtained by B in all the subjects together?
SOLUTION: BY USING SUPER FAST TRICKS - Math Short Cut Trick for Data Interpretation (DI)
First of fall check out no. of students in Table = 6 (A, B, C, D, E & F)
& no. of subjects = 6 (History, Geography, Math, Science, English & Hindi)
& Percentage of Marks is given for each student of every subject. So simplify the Table same as shown below:
Thus all percentage is always out of 100. Then to obtain MULTIPLE FACTOR for total achieved marks, EVERY subject will be divided by 100 & then to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by this MULTIPLE FACTOR.
For Subject: History & Geography (both have same Max. Marks i.e. 75)
Multiple Factor is = 75/100 = ¾
Thus to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS of all students All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by ¾.
Multiple Factor is = 100/100 = 1
Thus to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS of all students All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1.
Multiple Factor is = 150/100 = 3/2
Thus to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS of all students All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1.
Multiple Factor is = 50/100 = 1/2
Thus to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS of all students All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1.
Multiple Factor is = 60/100 = 3/5
Thus to obtain TOTAL ACHIEVED MARKS of all students All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1.
Let’s say for student A in History %age of Marks = 82 % out of Max. Marks 75
Then it can be simplified as follows:
In total 100 Marks in History Student A got = 82 (i.e. meaning of 82%)
In total 1 Marks in History Student A got = 82 / 100
In total 75 Marks in History Student A got = 82 x 75 / 100 = 82 x ¾
Total achieved marks in Subject History All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by ¾.
Total achieved marks in Subject Geography All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by ¾.
Total achieved marks in Subject Math All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1.
Total achieved marks in Subject Science All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 3/2.
Total achieved marks in Subject English All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 1/2.
Total achieved marks in Subject Hindi All the percentage of marks will be multiplied by 3/5.)
Thus do multiplication for only those subjects which are required to find sum or average in the questions
